User Reviews about Trail Blazer #TBL-24JRA XTend A Lopper
Purchased this lopper in 2008 and it is well designed & an excellent tool.
It has a 'Lifetime' waranty but told there is NO parts manual. Spring over stretched & blade broke at its base. Sent parts for replacement & instructions for replacement. However, with unit taken apart, told there is no manual showing how to put back together. Now trying to get new lopper with waranty. Excellent product, POOR support! -- Excellent product - POOR support
These are powerful racheting style lopers that give you extra versatility due to the extending handles which not only give you reach but can accomodate an awkward cutting situation by making the handles different lengths. I have cut some pretty big (close to 3 inch) rhododendron limbs with no concern about the construction strength of the tool. Two thumbs up. -- Versatile Lopers
It is the best loper I have seen for it's design and usefulness by a person with limited height reach. -- Anvil type branch loper.
I was somewhat skeptical that a lopper could handle a 3 inch branch - that's usually something that I would use a hand saw for. But this lopper actually comes through! It's the first lopper I've used with a ratcheting head which took me some time to get used to. You open the handles wide and the head snaps fully open. You then repeatedly open and close the handles and the jaws ratchets shut until the branch is cut. While this may seem to entail a bit more work, it's much easier on the arms and shoulders since you're cutting only a portion of the branch with every stroke. The head locks in the closed position for secure storage.
The extendable handles work well, and have a click stop every few inches. No problems with the handles extending or retracting unexpectedly.
The head is an anvil type head, so it's best used on dead wood since the anvil crushes the limb when cutting. Live wood is best cut with a bypass lopper so there's a clean edge.
I use this mainly to chop up cut branches into manageable lengths. Makes quick work of the process. Good build quality - hoping for many years of use. -- Excellent value and performance
First, this item is very powerful - but light. Cuts cleanly and easily. The adjustable length arms contribute to maneuverability, and the ratchet/gear arrangement delivers immense power.
My wife, without much upper arm strength, finds it a delight to use and is able to lop branches she previously couldn't even consider with compound loppers.
Second, I have had direct experience with Trail Blazer's forever warranty: They honor it immediately, no questions asked. Truly a pleasure! 8^)
I suggest you forget the big-box stores, and get this product. It will last forever - and supports a company that truly supports their customers. -- Works great! Guaranteed forever!!
